Trial Details

Bringing SASDA back to its roots in commemmorating 50 years Midlands hosted this trial in Graaff-Reinet where SASDA had its infancy. We were honoured to have 2 founder members with us. Mr Chipper Kingwill & Mr Frikkie Van Zyl watched avidly the entire weekend.

The trial was held in the Botanics Sports Grounds on a rugby field, the release point being 1/4 size of a normal top dog. To justify qualifications for a Dog of Year trial, dogs ran twice in a day. A big entry of 47 dogs saw 188 runs on the weekend, and points averaged. The time limit was cut down drastically and it was the norm to hear the clanging bell before shutting the pen gate. The little Angoras had to run for their pellets! Top Dogs had an added obstacle - A horsebox with open side into which the goats were ushered before the shed and pen.

The cogs that ran this trial were well oiled with Billy Colbourne at the head and the hard work of Wimpie Schoeman and Chris Hayward. Thanks to our mainjudge Hennie Ferreira who was relieved in Seniors by Pippa Philip and Faansie Basson. Big thanks to our hard working secretary Martie Ferreira who ket all the figures in an orderly fashion.

Unfortunately the weather made for disappointing public participation.
